A poem inspired by Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf!

“Like a Bat Out of Hell, I’ll be gone when the morning comes”

There in the darkness,
where demons lurk.
There in the night,
where moonlight stalks.
There in the shadows,
where angels hide.
Waiting for the coming of the dawn,
The ghosts of the past drift,
Silhouettes of nothing much left
Shades of their former selves.
There in the darkness, demons lurk,
Hunting the shadows
Waiting for the night to darken
Towards the dawn where angels wait
For the sun
Where angels fall to the ground

In supplication

Fornication

At the demons kiss
The demon’s lust
The demon’s power.
There in the darkness,
Where sunlight never sleeps,
Is a boy who turned to a man
And an angel who fell
to the damned,
And the demons rejoiced
At the sun’s darkening
As the angels fell to the ground

In supplication

Fornication

At the demon’s kiss
The demon’s lust
The demon’s power
As the boy became a man
And the angel lost her wings
On the darkest night
When innocence ended
And life began.
